2014 Meeting Minutes Wed, Apr 16, 2014 8:14 AM From: Gaylin Bingle To: MonsonMA_TreeMin Cc: Subject: Meeting of 2014-02/10 REPLANTING MONSON TREE COMMITTEE [Image:4162014_81333_0.png] Minutes of February 10, 2014 Meeting Members In attendance: Nicholas Beaudoin, Valarie Beaudoin, Leona Brahen, Bill Dominick, Leslie Duthie and Victoria Prior Also in Attendance: Robert McCabe The minutes of the October 7, 2013 meeting were reviewed and, after motion duly made by Ms. Duthie and seconded by Mr. Dominick, were approved. Conflict of interest packages were distributed to members of the Committee and members were advised of the need to complete the online program and return certificates of completion to the Town Clerk. Financial Review Ms. Beaudoin stated that the public funding was currently approximately $27,800.00 and Ms. Duthie stated that private funding was approximately $3,500.00. Future plantings were discussed, including the anticipated plantings at the new town hall building. Discussion of Tree City Application Ms. Brahen reviewed the necessary requirements for becoming a tree city. After discussion, Ms. Beaudoin agreed to meet with John Morrell, Monson Tree Warden, to determine if the town meets the financial requirements and would report back to the Committee at the next meeting. Discussion of Arbor Day Event and Spring Plantings The Committee discussed potential spring events. It was decided that a public planting would be held on April 26, 2014. In addition, a pruning and question/answer session would be held on April 27, 2014 for interested homeowners. Mr. McCabe offered to assist the Committee at the pruning session. Ms. Brahen agreed to prepare an invitation for homeowners to be reviewed and approved by the Committee at the next meeting. A private homeowner pick up event was also discussed and planned for May 17, 2014. Ms. Duthie indicated that a trip to Bigelow Nurseries would be required to tag trees for the Main Street planting and potential dates were discussed. Ms. Beaudoin reported that there were no current bill schedules to be approved and Ms. Brahen reviewed recent correspondence. After motion duly made and seconded, the meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
